Partial painting of a car allows you to correct damage to the paint layer without performing time-consuming and costly complete repainting. The technique of partial painting of a car has the same stages as the technique of complete repainting.
In most cases, damage to the paintwork of the car body is of a local nature. Local damage to the paint layer can be caused by minor traffic accidents, small particles in the road surface and scratches from unsuccessful parking. Partial painting of a car can significantly reduce the labor intensity and cost of work and does not require a special painting booth.
Retouching
This method allows spot painting of minor damage to the coating. The tool for retouching is a pencil, which is a container with a small amount of paint, equipped with a special brush. A bottle of degreaser is supplied with the pencil.
Before retouching, the surface must be cleaned of old paint particles and degreased. The coating is applied with a brush in several layers, the number of which depends on the thickness of the existing paint. The color of the paint for retouching is selected from the catalog in full accordance with the color of the car body.
Partial recovery technique
If it is necessary to restore the area of the paintwork, the area of which exceeds the possibilities of using the retouching method, the partial painting method is used. As tools for the implementation of the work, a spray gun is used, the pressure in which is created using a compressor. The method provides for preliminary preparation of the surface to be painted, its putty, primer and paint application.
Depending on the degree of damage, preliminary surface preparation may include straightening body parts, removing old paint, surface cleaning and sanding. At this stage, grinders equipped with replaceable abrasive paper attachments can be used.
The putty allows you to eliminate small irregularities left after straightening and abrasive surface treatment. The putty mixture is applied to the part with a spray gun or spatula, depending on its consistency. To ensure the proper quality of work, each subsequent layer should be applied after the previous one has completely dried. After puttying, 2-3 layers of primer are applied to the painted part of the body part.
Paint application is done with a spray gun, but spray paint can be used as an alternative method. The painting regimen must be strictly observed in accordance with the conditions indicated on the enamel packaging. As with retouching, the color matching of the paintwork material must be matched.
