Scratches can appear on the surface of a car for various reasons. In order to eliminate them, you need high-quality painting, which you can do yourself.

It is necessary

  • - sandpaper;
  • - file;
  • - putty;
  • - primer;
  • - paper or polyethylene;
  • - solvent;
  • - paint.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the surface for painting. To do this, clean it with sandpaper. Remember that you need to ensure that the damaged surface of the car becomes dull, without scratches and streaks from the skin. If there are scratches that are large enough, treat them with a file. The main criterion here is to create a surface on which it will be easy to apply putty or primer.

Step 2

After that, glue the area around the work area with paper or plastic. This is necessary in order not to apply a paint-and-varnish layer to nearby places. Then treat the surface with a solvent that will degrease it and remove any unnecessary dust and dirt.

Step 3

Apply putty to all chips and scratches. Remember that this mixture hardens rather quickly, so after a short amount of time it can already be processed. Take a grinding wheel or sandpaper and get a flat surface. Some types of putty require wet processing. To do this, moisten the place of work and continue in a circular motion. After the procedure, let the putty dry.

Step 4

Apply a thin layer of primer, being careful not to sag or leave untreated spots. After that, let the first coat dry and apply the next one. Repeat the procedure several times and make sure that the soil lies flat and free of any defects. After drying, apply about three coats of paint. After waiting for it to dry, apply varnish to the surface and leave for a day.

Step 5

After this time, check the place of work for uniformity of color. After that, carefully remove the materials with which you covered the nearby parts of the machine from paint ingress.
