Signs of a faulty flow meter are unstable engine operation, dips and deterioration of dynamics during acceleration, increased gas mileage and difficult engine start. To accurately identify a flow meter malfunction, you must either replace it with a known good one, or contact a service station to read errors in the diagnostic system.
It is necessary
- - cleaning compounds for the carburetor;
- - composition for cleaning electronic contacts;
- - 99% isopropyl alcohol;
- - wrenches, socket and Torx.
Instructions
Step 1
To clean the flow meter, loosen the clamp that tightens the connection between the flow meter and the air inlet hose. Disconnect the wiring harness from the meter body. Detach the 4 fastening clips on the air cleaner body. Then lift the air cleaner up and to the side towards the fender, thus removing it from the car. Unfasten the latches and remove the air duct located inside the air cleaner housing.
Step 2
After removing the flow meter, use a Torx wrench to unscrew the 2 mounting bolts of the air temperature sensor. Spray electronic contact cleaning compound on the surface of the air temperature sensor, and then wait 10-20 minutes. Then shake the sensor and rinse it in 99% isopropyl alcohol. Attention! If you use 70% alcohol instead of 99%, the cleaning quality of the sensor will be noticeably lower. Attempts to wipe the working surfaces of the sensor with cotton wool can damage it.
Step 3
Clean the flowmeter screens using carburetor compounds. Finally, they can also be dipped in alcohol. After cleaning the screws in the same way, screw the temperature sensor back on. Inspect the gaskets used when installing the flowmeter. If you find signs of wear or damage, replace them with new ones. Be sure to clean them with any cleaning compound and lubricate with petroleum jelly or the type of lubricant recommended in the instruction manual.
Step 4
Remove any dirt and oily deposits that interfere with the free movement of the meter damper with a carburetor cleaner. Spray it inside the chamber, wait 10-20 minutes and rinse thoroughly with alcohol.
Step 5
Gaskets are also installed on the air pipes that are connected to the flow meter and on the air cleaner nozzle. Check their condition. Clean or replace as necessary. Clean the inside of the pipes with a brush. Assemble the flow meter and install it on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal. When installing, blow out all parts with clean compressed air.
