It is impossible to imagine a car without a speedometer. It not only decorates the dashboard, but also saves nerves, money and our health, and sometimes life. A speedometer is a device that measures your speed and distance traveled. Even an experienced driver cannot do without it - after all, it is very difficult to determine the speed "by eye". Like all instruments, the speedometer sometimes fails and needs to be replaced.

Instructions

Step 1

Carefully disassemble the dashboard in the car. Typically, the plastic case is attached to several screws and latches. Open this structure and pull slightly to remove the wiring. Disconnect all wires from the back so that only plugs remain hanging. Remember which wires are connected where.

Step 2

Remove the clear glass that covers the instruments on the panel. Usually it is fastened with latches and not with self-tapping screws. Be careful - the latches can easily break off and then glass replacement will be required. Then remove the frame in which there are holes for the devices. Wipe it with a dry, clean cloth, making sure it is free of streaks and dust.

Step 3

Flip the dashboard back to you. Take a screwdriver in your hands and carefully unscrew the thin screws with which the speedometer is attached to the panel case. There are usually four such screws. Remove the faulty speedometer and set aside. Explore its device at your leisure.

Step 4

Take a new speedometer, attach it to the body of the dashboard. Install everything in reverse order. All the work will take you about half an hour. Check the wiring carefully. Then start the car and test the speedometer in action on the road.
