Instructions

Step 1

In the case when a mechanical speedometer is used on a GAZ car, this implies the following actions: Disconnect the speedometer cable from the gearbox. To do this, unscrew the nut that secures the cable from the gearbox and pull. If the nut is tightened tightly and does not loosen immediately, you need to carefully turn it with pliers.

Step 2

Place the rubber adapter on the tip of the speedometer cable. Take a reversible electric drill. Clamp the free end of the rubber adapter into the drill chuck.

Step 3

Plug the drill into the power supply. You can use a cordless screwdriver. In this case, just select the direction of rotation of the chuck depending on the task (twisting or wrapping) and turn on the tool.

Step 4

While rotating the speedometer cable, check its readings. When the desired value of the speedometer readings is reached, turn off the tool.

Step 5

Disconnect the rubber adapter from the cable. Lubricate the cable end, pour liquid lubricant into the cable cover. Insert the cable into the gearbox gearbox and tighten the nut that secures the cable.

Step 6

In the event that an electronic speedometer (or odometer) is installed on the GAZ car, twist the speedometer as follows: Remove the instrument cluster panel. Separate the speedometer from the instrument panel assembly.

Step 7

Remove the retaining bracket that holds the speedometer's electric motor. Remove the motor from the speedometer housing.

Step 8

Rotate the speedometer gears with a screwdriver in the direction of decreasing the speedometer readings. After obtaining the desired readings, reinstall the motor.

Step 9

Secure the motor with a bracket. Install the speedometer to the instrument panel assembly.

Step 10

Reinstall the instrument panel assembly, secure. Adjusting an electronic speedometer - odometer - is not very easy.

Step 11

Adjusting the odometer reading or adjusting the speedometer is only a small part of the mileage roll. Your vehicle's true mileage information is still stored in memory even after the speedometer cranking, and this can sometimes cause problems. To avoid them, you need to change the data in the memory of the on-board computer. This cannot be done "on the knee", therefore, in this case, it would be most correct to turn to specialists.
