The door trim on a car has to be removed quite often: to install speakers in the door, to repair or replace power windows, and for many other reasons. Let's consider how to perform this operation on a Chevrolet Lanos.
Instructions
Step 1
To get the job done successfully, you need Phillips and flat-blade screwdrivers. Remove the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery. After that, open the door and unscrew the bolt that secures the armrest lining. Slide the trim back a little so that you can safely disengage the latch, which is attached to the armrest.
Step 2
Carefully lift the trim out of its place and disconnect the wire connectors from the power window control unit. These connectors are in the lining. After that, remove the decorative trim of the rear-view mirror, for this you will have to overcome the resistance of the clips installed there.
Step 3
For further work, wrap the screwdriver with insulating tape so as not to scratch the parts of the upholstery. Use a screwdriver to pry the trim of the inner handle of the lock and remove the screws that secure the trim, which are located at the lower edge of the door. Then pull the door trim towards you and remove it.
Step 4
To remove the tailgate trim, remove the bolt located in the seat of the door armrest. After that, press the window regulator handle towards the panel and remove the retainer with a screwdriver. Remove the handle and its rosette, setting these parts aside to avoid losing them. Then remove the screws that are at the bottom of the door. Detach the trim from the corner of the rear door, which is attached to two holders. Carefully use a screwdriver to pick up the upholstery in the places where the plastic clips are located.
Step 5
Overcoming the resistance created by the caps, carefully remove the upholstery from the panel. Install the upholstery in the reverse order, making sure that all clips are firmly in place. Do not forget to check the operation of the power windows.
