If you feel like your car is losing power or stalling when you press the accelerator pedal, then the problem is probably in the fuel filter. This is one of the few items that can be independently checked in a car and can be easily replaced. Better not to delay with this.
Instructions
Step 1
Locate the fuel filter in the vehicle. In most cases, it is located between two sections of the fuel line, close to the fuel tank. Outwardly, the filter resembles a small cylinder.
Step 2
Check the paper filter inside. Some vehicles are equipped with clear plastic filters, in which case it will be quite easy to check the internal filter. If it is dark brown (not golden or light brown), or there is any precipitation in the fuel, it is time to replace the filter.
Step 3
Loosen the fastening of the fuel line hose that leads from the fuel tank to the filter. To do this, turn the screw counterclockwise several times using a screwdriver, which secures the clamp. Raise the fuel filter and pull out the hose immediately to prevent fuel spills.
Step 4
Place the end of the fuel hose in a glass container. Now you need to switch to neutral and apply the emergency brake. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the first position to avoid stalling the engine and supplying sufficient power to the fuel pump. You may need a companion for this. At this time, observe the rate at which fuel enters the vessel. Switch off the ignition and connect the filter to the fuel line.
Step 5
Perform additional verification. Loosen the fastening of the line connecting the fuel filter and the engine, remove the hose by lifting the filter and preventing the fuel from leaking out of the filter. Place the end of the hose in a glass vessel, asking the assistant to set the ignition key to the first position. Observe the rate at which the fuel comes out of the fuel filter. If you notice that the rate of fluid output is even slightly lower than normal, this means that the fuel filter is clogged. Replace it with a new one urgently.
