The second working unit of the car after the engine must always work perfectly. The VAZ gearbox is designed simply enough to cope with its repair, even without special auto repair training.

Necessary

  • - a set of synchronizers and transmission gaskets;
  • - couplings;
  • - switching forks;
  • - oil seals;
  • - transmission oil;
  • - kerosene or diesel fuel;
  • - sealant.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine in advance the approximate cause of your vehicle's gearbox failure. Difficult gear shifting may require adjustment and replacement of plastic parts in the gearbox drive. Spontaneous disengagement of gears - replacement of synchronizers, clutch and shift fork. Noisy gearbox operation - adding oil to the gauge markings and replacing gaskets.

Step 2

Drain the oil from the gearbox. Pour it into the repaired gearbox or, if the replacement date has come, take fresh transmission oil.

Step 3

Remove and disassemble the gearbox. Clean the parts from dirt and deposits. Wipe thoroughly. Be careful with the locking balls - they are easy to lose.

Step 4

Check all the details. There should be no cracks on the gearbox housing. The covers must fit snugly to maintain a tight seal.

Step 5

Examine the oil seals. The permissible wear of their working edge should not exceed 1 mm. Otherwise, replacement is required.

Step 6

Check gears, synchronizers, couplings, and also the clearances between them. Replace defective parts.

Step 7

Inspect the bearings. Press the inner ring against the outer ring with your finger and push. Smooth, easy sliding means the bearing is in perfect condition.

Step 8

Inspect forks and rods. Their deformation is unacceptable. They should move freely in the holes.

Step 9

Eliminate all small irregularities with sanding skins with a grain size of 10 to 40 units - the working parts and surfaces of the gearbox should not be damaged. If it is impossible to restore smoothness, or there is significant wear and deformation, replace the parts with new ones.

Step 10

Flush the entire mechanism with kerosene or diesel fuel before reassembling. Clean the places where the gaskets will be installed and coat with a thin layer of sealant.

Step 11

Assemble the checkpoint in the reverse order. Fill with oil before installing the bottom cover. Finish the assembly and install the gearbox on the machine.
