Instructions

Step 1

Place the vehicle on a viewing ditch or lift. Disconnect the terminals from the battery. The starter on the VAZ 2106 is installed on the engine at the bottom right, directly under the air intake and thermal insulation shield. Before removing it, loosen the clamp tightening and remove the air intake hose attached to the air filter housing.

Step 2

Release the clamp and remove the hose from the air intake. Then loosen the lower nut securing the air intake by two turns and unscrew the upper nut with a wrench 10. Then remove the air intake.

Step 3

Remove the heat shield by unscrewing the two nuts from the right support bracket. To do this, use a socket-head extension. After removing the shield, remove the lower bolt and then the two upper starter bolts.

Step 4

Slide the starter forward slightly for easy removal of the wire connectors from the traction relay. Then unscrew the nut with a 13 key and remove the battery wire from the relay bolt. Remove the starter up. Installation of a new starter is carried out upside-down.

Step 5

Replace the starter solenoid relay. To do this, unscrew the nut on its lower contact bolt. Remove the spring washer and two flat washers. Disconnect the starter winding terminal from the bolt.

Step 6

Remove the three screws securing the solenoid relay to the starter cover on the drive side. While holding the anchor, dismantle the part.

Step 7

Pull the spring out of the starter armature. Disengage the armature from the drive by pulling it up. Install in the reverse order.

Step 8

Check the technical condition of the starter and all its parts. Unscrew the cover fixing screws with a screwdriver and remove it. Unscrew the brush leads. If the car is equipped with a starter 35.3708, then remove the lock washer at the rear end of the shaft.

Step 9

Unscrew the studs and pull out with an armature from the drive side together with the cover. Disconnect it from the body, pull out the rubber plug of the lever, unpin and pull out the axis of the starter drive lever.

Step 10

Pull the armature and lever out of the cover. After disassembling the starter, it is necessary to blow through the parts with air and wipe them thoroughly. Reassemble the starter in the reverse order.
