Good acoustics are a great addition to almost any car. But most basic configurations lack speakers. The easiest way is to buy them and install them in your car yourself. This will save you money and do everything to your liking.
Necessary
- - speakers;
- - soldering iron;
- - solder;
- - wiring of the required type and section;
- - screwdrivers;
- - set of wrenches
Instructions
Step 1
De-energize the vehicle before starting work to avoid short circuits. To do this, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Carefully study the instructions and recommendations that come with your speakers. Don't forget to purchase wiring. Some configurations already have audio preparation, however, the laid wires may be slightly different from the required cross-section, which will significantly affect the durability of the speakers, as well as the quality of the reproduced sound.
Step 2
Choose a location where you will install the speakers. Usually they are located in the doors and on the rear shelf, which is therefore called acoustic. If the door trim already has grooves for installation, you must remove the protective panels and attach the speakers.
Step 3
Make podiums if there is no room for speakers in your configuration. The podium is a kind of adapter that allows you to install the speaker so that it looks aesthetically pleasing against the background of the door trim. Use rubberized plastic or plywood to make podiums. Brittle plastic will emit an unpleasant crackle from vibration. Try on the workpiece repeatedly to minimize the risk of spoiling the material. Attach the finished podium with self-tapping screws, after having lubricated the edges that adjoin the skin with a sealant.
Step 4
Solder the wires to the speaker. Glue pieces of colored electrical tape to the soldering points. Now you need to carefully lay the wiring. It must be brought to the head unit, which is usually located in the central part of the torpedo. On some car models, this requires partially disassembling the lower part.
Step 5
Pass the wires out of the door through a special technical hole. To do this, take a medium-hard line, attach a wire to its end. Put the fishing line inside the door and pass it through the hole, then insert it into the special protective corrugated tube and pull it out in the car. Gently pull the line towards you until the end with the wires appears. After that, lead the wiring to the back of the radio. Tighten each wire carefully along its entire length. In open places, mask it. Connect to the radio and check the functionality.
