The main rule of using the hand brake in cold weather is not to use it at all. After all, it is much easier to prevent the pads from freezing than to cope with the consequences later. Most often, the "handbrake" freezes after a car wash. Everyone thinks it's good, you can finally wash your car while there is no dirt on the roads. But after washing the car, it is very important to dry the brakes well. Ideal if the car wash and the parking lot are located far from each other. Then, during the movement, excess fluid will drain from the brake mechanisms. After leaving the car wash, dry the brakes. To do this, at low speed, do several intensive braking.
If the "handbrake" is still frozen, first try to move away smoothly. But this must be done very carefully, otherwise you risk tearing off the clutches on the pads and deforming the discs. Gently rock the machine with smooth throttle.
If this does not help, pour warm water on the wheel, but not boiling water. After that, try again to rock the car, accelerating and braking. Do not use any special means for defrosting locks to defrost the brakes. In their composition, they contain agents that impair the braking ability of the pads.
