Step 1
There are four types of motorcycle braking: full, service, parking and emergency. Each of these types of braking is tailored to a specific situation and vehicle. Full braking - to an absolute stop, working - to reduce speed while driving, parking - to keep the balance of three-axle motorcycles on slopes, emergency - to immediately and completely stop the motorcycle. Depending on the type of braking, one of three methods of stopping the motorcycle is used: with the engine, brakes and combined.
Step 2
Engine braking is often considered the first phase of the entire motorcycle deceleration process, but it is really difficult to think of a better way to stop the vehicle in slippery conditions, slowing down gradually, or driving on a long slope. At the beginning of such braking, you need to release the accelerator pedal without releasing the clutch. After that, it is necessary to smoothly shift to lower gears with full depressing of the clutch pedal. This method is the easiest and safest way to stop a motorcycle, but it is not suitable for driving in urban areas and for emergency braking.

Another option for stopping a motorcycle is braking with a hand and foot brake. It is advisable to start this type of braking with a slight advance in the operation of the rear brake system, turning on the handbrake 1-2 seconds after depressing the brake pedal. In order not to roll over during braking, it is important to take into account the redistribution of masses to the wheels, and therefore, in no case should the wheels be completely blocked (especially the front one!). The brake pedal should be applied gradually without giving priority to the front brakes.
Step 4
Combined braking is ideal for braking on steep slopes and for sudden deceleration. The essence of this method boils down to the fact that the braking torque of the engine is combined with braking by the wheels, as a result of which there is a smooth, but rather rapid decrease in speed. First you need to release the gas and, without releasing the clutch pedal, reduce the engine speed. In parallel with this, you must first apply the brake pedal, and after half a second, the hand brake system. For more effective braking, it is worth making the speed drop intermittent, alternating between releasing and activating the rear brake system.
