With the onset of winter, many drivers have a need to "change" their car from summer tires to winter tires. During the cold season, summer tires are sent for storage, and in order for them to survive until the next season, you should follow a few simple rules that will help preserve the properties and quality of rubber for a long time.

It is necessary

  • - covers or boxes for storing tires;
  • - aerosol preservative.

Instructions

Step 1

Before storing tires, be sure to thoroughly remove dirt and gravel and dry them. Then treat the rubber with a special preservative spray, which can be purchased at any automotive store. In its composition, the aerosol contains the so-called oxidation inhibitors, which slow down the process of rubber "piercing". Mark the place where the tire is installed on the car, for example, the right front wheel is PP, the left rear wheel is LZ.

Step 2

Check the expiration date before packing your tires. There are markings on each wheel. The first number represents the week, and the second represents the year of issue. Tires often have a shelf life of five years. If it expires by the summer, then you can store the rubber anywhere, because you will no longer need it.

Step 3

Place each processed wheel in separate covers or special boxes, this will help protect the rubber from light. Place the tires in a dark, dry area, preferably a garage or shed. Make room for them so they don't get in your way. For summer tires, the best position is "upright". Keep petrol, oil, grease and substances as far away from the tires as possible, otherwise they can destroy the rubber and thereby significantly reduce its service life.

Step 4

Many auto centers offer their services for storing summer tires, so you can entrust this business to specialists. They will keep the tires at the moisture and temperature they need.
