The vacuum booster is used in the braking system to act on all wheels. Its function is to reduce brake pressure while maintaining system efficiency. If it breaks down, it will affect the car's handling, therefore, the vacuum amplifiers must be checked periodically.

Step 1

Stop the engine and press the brake pedal about 5-6 times. Then, keeping the brake pressed down, start the engine. The brake pedal should move down by itself.

Step 2

If the pedal remains in the same position, stop the running engine, open the hood and check how tightly the vacuum pump sits on the inlet pipe fitting. Also pay attention to the hose of the vacuum brake booster. Remember that a non-return valve is used in the vacuum hose, therefore any loosening of fasteners and damage to parts is unacceptable. Replace all clamps and damaged parts.

Step 3

Check the check valve itself. Loosen the clamp that secures the vacuum booster hose to the pipe fitting, slide it down and remove the hose. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum brake booster in the same way. Now check the function of the check valve. To do this, create a vacuum in the hose at the point where it connects to the nozzle.

Step 4

Take a rubber bulb in your hands, insert it into the junction of the hose and the nozzle and squeeze it. The air that has left the bulb must pass through the valve and out into the opposite opening of the hose. Let go of the bulb and look at it: if it remains in a compressed state, then this is an indicator that the valve is working properly.

Step 5

If the pear is inflated again, then it is necessary to replace the hose together with the valve. During installation and during operation, make sure that the hose has no kinks, twists and leaks. Slide the hose onto the connection of the vacuum booster to a depth of about 30 mm. Reinstall all parts in reverse order and check the brake system again by depressing the pedal.
