Electric cars are still quite an exotic means of transportation for Russia. Nevertheless, their number is gradually increasing in the capital, and an appropriate infrastructure is being created for the convenience of using electric transport.

Most likely, the Russians will not be able to see electric cars anywhere in the outback for a long time, far from big cities and good roads. But in megalopolises, electric cars are slowly starting to take root. The main factor here is their cost-effectiveness: for trips to and from work, when you often have to stand in traffic jams for a long time, using an electric car turns out to be much more profitable than driving a regular car.

In practice, the main problem when using an electric vehicle is recharging its batteries. As a rule, electric cars are usually charged overnight in the car owner's garage. This scheme has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is the independence of the owner of the electric car from city electric car charging stations, the main disadvantage is the low speed of charging the batteries. The latter is due to the extremely low power of the electrical network, in the apartments and houses of townspeople it rarely exceeds 5-10 kW, while for fast charging (about 30 minutes), a power of at least 50 kW is required.

A big problem for the owner of an electric car is also the discharge of batteries during a trip. The lack of a network of electric car refueling stations can lead to the fact that the car will simply stop after running out of battery power. Realizing this, the authorities of large cities, primarily Moscow, are promoting the creation of filling stations for electric vehicles. In particular, in the summer of this year, three such stations appeared in the capital, their capacity allows you to charge an electric car for half an hour.

The network of filling stations for electric vehicles is organized by the Moscow United Electric Grid Company together with the Revolta company. The project is called "Moesk-EV", within its framework it is planned to place about 400 filling stations in the capital by the end of the year. Their main advantage is compactness, each is a column about two meters high with several connectors designed for different types of electric vehicles. Charging time will range from 20 minutes to several hours, depending on the type of electric vehicle.

The development of a network of filling stations will contribute to the rapid growth of the number of electric cars. This is especially true for Moscow with its high gas content - the more cars switch to electric traction, the cleaner the air in the capital will become.
