The life and health of the driver and passenger depends on the serviceability of the motorcycle brake system. Therefore, manufacturers recommend adjusting and adjusting the brakes regularly, but at least once a year. One of the steps in tuning a motorcycle braking system is replacing the brake fluid, which can make the brakes “soft” and unpredictable for too long.

It is necessary

  • - transparent rubber hoses;
  • - open-end wrench 10/12;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - glass jar with a capacity of 1 liter;
  • - brake fluid.

Instructions

Step 1

Before adjusting the elements of the braking system, replace the brake fluid. The required type is usually indicated in the technical documentation for the vehicle; you can also find it on the inscription on the expansion tank or brake hoses.

Step 2

Pour 1-2 centimeters of new brake fluid into a liter glass jar. Remove the cap from the expansion tank. Put a tube on the fitting, the free end of which is lowered into the jar, drowning it in the liquid. It is convenient to use transparent tubes used in droppers for these purposes.

Step 3

By tightening the motorcycle rear brake lever, gradually squeeze the old brake fluid completely out of the system into a free container while adding new compound to the expansion tank.

Step 4

Make sure the old fluid is completely out of the system. This can be determined by the absence of air bubbles in the transparent tube. If the bubbles have disappeared, tighten the fitting gently to avoid damaging it.

Step 5

Close the cover of the expansion tank. After completing the operation, proceed to a similar bleeding of the front brake circuit of the motorcycle.

Step 6

After changing the fluid, adjust the brake system starting from the rear circuit. Adjust the rear wheel brake of a single-cam type, for example, for IZH-Planet-5 or IZH-Jupiter-5, with the screw located in the sprocket casing. Motorcycles "Ural" and "Dnepr" have an adjusting cone for this purpose. Pedal free travel after correct adjustment should be within 10-15 mm.

Step 7

On a Java motorcycle, adjust the rear brake by rotating the impeller, tightening it until the block starts to brake. After that, the impeller should be loosened by one and a half turns. Make sure the pads do not touch the drum when the brake is released.
