Car owners often have a problem with the operation of the wipers (wipers). One of them concerns the wear of the rubber bands on them due to prolonged or improper use. It should be taken into account that this is one of the important mechanisms necessary for traveling in rainy or snowy weather. Replacing rubber bands with your own hands is easy if you follow a certain sequence.
It is necessary
- - two strips of rubber or silicone tape of any color
- - scissors or knife
- - pliers or screwdriver
Instructions
Step 1
Bend the wiper blades away from the glass and remove them by turning them 90 degrees towards the mounting bar.
Step 2
Disassemble the completely removed wiper. To do this, use pliers or a screwdriver to gently pry apart the metal fasteners holding the rubber band with two guides.
Step 3
Bend each fastener of the elastic by 2-3 mm, otherwise they can be broken off. In winter, it is recommended to use silicone tapes. If you know the length of the wipers, you can buy ready-made ones.
Step 4
Carefully remove the old rubber band along with the two rails from the wiper by pulling them together from one side.
Step 5
Attach the new wiper tape to the rails and cut to length with scissors or a knife.
Step 6
Slide the tape with the two guides back between the retaining fasteners and secure it with pliers.
Step 7
Install the assembled wiper back onto the rod. Check the firmness of fastening of all mechanisms and assemblies of the wiper.
Step 8
Perform actions with the second wiper in the same sequence.
