Windshield wipers, or as motorists call "windshield wipers", are a very important element of a car's design. Without them, you cannot go anywhere in the rain, otherwise the risk of getting into an accident is too great. Unfortunately, the failure of the "wipers" of a VAZ car happens very often. That is why you need to be able to quickly and efficiently change windshield wipers.

Instructions

Step 1

Check all elements of the chain. Often it is not necessary to change the wipers, perhaps an element of the common wiper circuit has burned out somewhere. Remove your car dashboard. Locate the wiper relay, it is on the left side and is screwed with two bolts to the car body. Check its functionality, replace if necessary. After that, check the fuse, which is responsible for the operation of the "wipers".

Step 2

Disassemble the steering column. To do this, unscrew the speaker cover screws. After removing it, carefully inspect the steering column wiper switch. Check the integrity of the insulation. In case of visible violations, replace the steering column switch block.

Step 3

Check the wiper motor. It is usually installed in the engine compartment. Unscrew it from the car body and check it works. In case of malfunction, replace it. It is also worth taking it apart and checking it out. There may be a slight blockage or short circuit. If the motor drive pulley is broken, replace it.

Step 4

Start changing the wipers. If all the checked elements are intact, then change the wipers. Disconnect the minus terminal of the battery first. Next, bend the "wipers" away from the windshield by moving "towards you". Remove the brushes carefully. If there is a decorative strip on the wiper mounting bolt, remove it. Next, unscrew the bolt with a wrench. Then remove the old wiper. If necessary, replace the gearmotor, which is also bolted.

Step 5

Install new wipers. Place a new gearmotor (if changed) and secure it. Next, install new wipers. Then tighten the mounting bolt. Be careful as you can easily rip off the bolt. After finishing work, fix the decorative strip and put the brushes on the wiper. Reconnect the battery terminal and check the functionality of the new "wipers".
