Rear window heating has long become commonplace for all motorists. It is necessary in order to warm the glass in the winter, when it is covered with ice or snow. It is also necessary in the warm season, when the glass is covered with perspiration. All of these situations make it very difficult to see through the rear window. This can become a serious obstacle when driving and even an emergency. However, not all cars have this attribute, and then you should think about how to make the rear window heating yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy heated glass with special heating filaments. Reinstall it and start connecting it. To do this, you need a relay, fuses, a switch, wires, a relay block, terminals, and a pair of bolts. All work is best done with gloves to avoid injury.
Step 2
Install the pendant fuse. If there is an additional fuse box, then you can do without it. Run two wires from the switch, one of which goes to the fuse of the main unit and the other to the relay block.
Step 3
Fasten the relay near the fuses in any convenient and accessible place. Remove the left side sill trims and route the wires to the rear window. Carefully detach the trim on both sides of the rear window. Connect the wire to the glass on the right. Conductive adhesive can be used for this. It is better to connect a short wire on the right, and connect the other end to ground.
