In a modern car, the cigarette lighter, in addition to the standard purpose, is also used as a power source. If it stops working, check the fuses according to the car's wiring diagram. If the fuses are intact, disassemble the cigarette lighter and look for a breakdown.

Instructions

Step 1

In the event that the cigarette lighter is out of order, find the fuse responsible for it. If it burns out, just replace it. If the fuse is ok, remove the cigarette lighter socket by reaching the back of it. Then connect a 12 volt lamp there, having previously turned the key in the position at which the dimensions (ACC) light up - this will supply voltage directly to the cigarette lighter. If it does not light up, you need to ring the car wiring, which leads to the device, and if it does, the problem is in the device itself.

Step 2

Unscrew the nut that holds the back of the cigarette lighter and separate the iron and plastic parts of the cigarette lighter. Examine the device itself carefully. Overvoltage can burn out the wires. In this case, carefully remove and replace them, soldering to the joints for reliability. As a rule, aluminum wires are used in cigarette lighters. If after that the cigarette lighter does not start working or all the wires are intact, do other steps.

Step 3

In the depths of the nest, there is a mica plate, which most often fails. Remove it carefully and discard it. When assembling in the reverse order, it may turn out that the cigarette lighter does not fit into the socket - then adjust it to size using a file. Put the cigarette lighter back in place and it will start working again. Observe the polarity when connecting the contacts. If it doesn't help, get a new cigarette lighter and install it.

Step 4

To ensure that the cigarette lighter does not fail as long as possible, do not connect a compressor to inflate the tires, since then too much current flows through the device. Do not force the connectors into it. Make sure that no metal objects enter the socket, which could cause a short circuit.
