However, very often it fails and requires an early replacement, since it is very difficult to calculate the amount of gasoline remaining in the tank from the mileage.

Instructions
Step 1
Park the vehicle on a level surface. Open the hood and remove the negative terminal of the battery to de-energize the on-board power system. Now locate the fuse box. This can be done by reading your vehicle's manual. On the cover of the block, you will see a table that shows which of the fuses is responsible for a particular sensor. Locate the fuel level sensor fuse. pull it out and check. The thin thread inside it must be intact. Paying attention to the base. If there are traces of burning or plaque on it, it means that it has burned out. Replace the defective fuse with a new one.
Step 2
Drain the gasoline tank. To do this, use a compressor and a regular tube. Determine where it is most convenient to get into the tank - through the trunk or through the back seat. Remove the plastic protection from the gas tank. Under it you will see a sensor that is screwed into the tank. Disconnect the cable plugs from the sensor, having previously marked them so as not to confuse when reassembling. Take a Phillips screwdriver and use it to loosen the clamp of the clamp that secures the fuel hose. After that, carefully remove the hose from the fuel intake fitting. Now locate the six nuts that secure the sensor body to the outside of the tank. Unscrew them with smooth movements. Remove the sensor carefully from the tank.
Step 3
Examine the sensor carefully. If it is cracked and some particles are missing. then it is necessary to remove and clean the tank so that these fragments do not get into the fuel system. Install a new sensor. Use only branded sensors, as sensors from questionable companies can cause a fire! Tighten all six nuts after changing the rubber gaskets. Reassemble in reverse order. Connect the plugs to the new sensor. Place the negative terminal on the battery. now pour a full twenty liter can of gasoline into the tank. Start your car. Wait a little and check the petrol level shown by the gauge. It must correspond to 20 liters.
