If the fuel level sensor fails, the light on the instrument panel may light up regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank, or stop working altogether. In this case, it can be repaired.
Necessary
- - screwdriver;
- - key "10";
- - head "7";
- - tester or multimeter;
- - new thermistor.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Remove the rear seat to free access to the petrol receiver. Fold back the soundproofing over the hatch cover.
Step 2
Unscrew the two self-tapping screws, and then remove the hatch cover. Disconnect the sensor connector. Loosen the clamps securing the fuel supply and drain hoses to the pipes with a Phillips screwdriver. Move the hoses one by one from the tubes using the "10" wrench.
Step 3
Remove the petrol receiver with the fuel level sensor from the tank. This must be done carefully so as not to damage the float. Then remove the gas receiver gasket. Close the cover of the gas box during work.
Step 4
Remove dirt from the sensor and inspect it. Check the continuity of the circuit with a tester or multimeter. The main reason for the breakdown of the sensor is the failure of the thermistor, which is located in the flask. In this case, there will be no signal on the tester.
Step 5
Remove the plate covering the top of the flask. Remove the worn-out thermistor from the bulb and from the lid.
Step 6
Install a new thermistor in the flask. If you do not know what resistance the burned out resistor had, select it as follows.
Step 7
Connect the test resistance thermistor to the fuel level sensor connector located on the gas receiver and turn on the ignition. The light on the instrument panel should come on after 5-10 seconds. Pour some gasoline into a small container and lower the connected thermistor there. Wait five to seven minutes. If it is selected correctly, the light should go out.
Step 8
Solder the "leg" of the thermistor in the middle of the bulb so that it does not touch its walls. Then solder its upper "leg". Assemble the sensor.
Step 9
Install in reverse order. Connect the negative wire to the battery. Check the operation of the fuel level sensor as soon as possible.
