The larger the city, the more difficult the transport situation in it. One of the possible solutions to the problem is intercepting parking, which has long become a reality in the metropolitan areas of Europe, Japan and the United States. Gradually intercepting parking lots appear in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities of Russia.
Intercepting parking lots are designed to relieve traffic on the city's highways. This is a guarded outdoor parking located next to a metro station or public transport stop, at the entrance to the city center.
It is envisaged that the driver will get to the parking lot by car, then leave it under supervision, and then go around the city by metro or bus. After the end of the working day, the driver repeats his journey in the opposite direction: from the place of work he gets to the parking lot by metro, then he changes into his car and goes home.
The secret that draws attention to the intercept parking lot: It's free. Having entered the parking lot and handed over the car for storage, the driver receives a paid “Parking” ticket with the date for two trips in the subway. Thus, without paying a penny yet, the driver calmly drives to work by public transport.
However, upon picking up the car, the owner must return the used card and pay its cost (equal to the cost of two trips on public transport). Moreover, the card must be returned before 23.30 local time. Thus, the driver pays only for his trip on the metro, and the storage of his car in the intercept parking lot is free of charge.
If the car owner loses the card, or does not use it, or is late (arrives after 23.30), he will have to pay for the use of the parking lot at the current rate, as if he had left the car in a regular parking lot (not an intercepting one).
Having appeared on the streets of cities, intercepting parking lots immediately began to be in demand among owners of personal vehicles. However, in order for them to work in full force, there must be much more of them - only in this case they will reduce the workload of the city's transport system and fulfill their main function.
