If your serviceable and reliable motorcycle does not look stylish enough, and its speed is not high enough, turn it into a sports bike. It is quite possible to make a sport bike yourself. And do not be surprised if your friends start to envy you, and the girls start to look dreamily.
It is necessary
- - a functional motorcycle;
- - warm garage;
- - locksmith tools, keys;
- - grinder;
- - table with a vice;
- - welding machine and electrodes;
- - compressor for painting.
Instructions
Step 1
Before you start upgrading your motorcycle, look through specialized magazines or sites with photographs of new motorcycle technology. Choose for yourself the desired end result, for which you have enough technical capabilities. Try to calculate the time and money so that the tuning process does not stretch out for several years.
Step 2
Disassemble the motorcycle and inspect all parts carefully. The increase in speed requires more reliability and coordination of work from all mechanisms. Wash all components and assemblies, lubricate, replace faulty ones.
Step 3
If possible, lengthen the motorcycle frame by 50-150 mm. In this case, the length of the propeller shaft or the front part can be increased. Please note that the resistance to oncoming air should be minimal, so you should not expand the frame. To radically change the frame, cut it into pipes and then weld it again, while trying to lighten the structure. When welding the frame, keep in mind that the seam must be connected in one pass along the entire perimeter. To ensure the alignment of the wheels, weld the frame on the clamps (otherwise, the mismatch of the track may lead to an accident).
Step 4
Raise the footpegs and move them back to be able to tilt forward while riding. Remove the passenger seat altogether so as not to make the structure heavier.
Step 5
Build a stylish and unusual gas tank using fragments and parts from the corresponding watches of several motorcycles. First clean the old gas tank of old paint with a grinder, replace the rusty areas with 1mm sheet metal. Secure the expanded tank with threaded rods or studs. Weld the pads. To ensure that the tank is tight, rub special sealants or a mixture of aluminum powder and epoxy glue into the degreased clean weld seam.
Step 6
To lighten the structure as much as possible, make decorative parts from fiberglass, impregnating it with glue. First, make a template from foam or other easy-to-work material, then apply the fabric and saturate it with glue, make several layers. After drying, sand and cover with a layer of enamel.
Step 7
Place special rubber on the wheels for maximum braking and steering performance. The brakes should also be strengthened to maximize driving safety.
