Instructions

Step 1

Buy 5 mm LEDs at any electronics store. Remember that it is better not to take matte devices, there is little light from them. Choose the color of the diodes to your taste, consult with the seller, which shine brighter. You will also need a 9 Volt battery, wires, electrical tape and any button, toggle switch.

Step 2

Measure the distance from the hub to where the diode will be mounted on the spoke. Cut the wires slightly longer than you measured earlier - you still need to attach them to the diodes. Better to do everything with a margin than add more later.

Step 3

Secure the wires to the LEDs. Strip the ends of the wires, bend the legs of the diodes and, putting the wire over the resulting loop, gently clamp it. Then solder the joints by picking up a regular soldering iron and solder with rosin. To prevent the contacts from oxidizing after water gets on them, coat them with varnish or silicone. Connect all the LEDs in series with each other, leaving the two ends of the wires unused - then connect the button and the power source to them.

Step 4

Use electrical tape to wrap each contact to prevent them from closing together, and then wrap the contacts together. This will reduce the overall thickness to the size of the LED, and prevent the head from bending once secured to the spoke. This will also partially protect the contacts from the effects of the external environment.

Step 5

Using a clamp, attach the LED to the spoke, having previously wrapped it with electrical tape. Direct the LEDs to the rim or hub as you like. The second option gives more light. Install the button in the gap of one of the wires, securing it to the spoke. Then connect the power source - the battery, which is better to install on the bushing with a clamp. Check the functionality of the circuit: when you press the button, all the LEDs should light up at the same time.
