Necessary

  • - a set of CV joints (2 internal and 2 external);
  • - jack;
  • - a set of keys and screwdrivers;
  • - hammer and chisel;
  • - capacity 5 liters;
  • - pipe 1-1.5 meters;
  • - supports;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - vice.

Instructions

Step 1

Loosen the bolts on the wheels, then place the stops under the rear wheels. It is better to replace the CV joints on a car with the front part suspended. So, first raise one side on a jack, install a reliable support under it for insurance. Then lift the second side, place a support under it too. Once the front is in suspension, the wheels can be removed and placed under the bottom of the machine for safety. Now take the container and drain the oil from the gearbox. You don't have to drain everything, leave a third. But if you plan to change the oil at the same time as replacing the pomegranates, drain everything.

Step 2

Take a 30mm socket wrench and find a good extension for its handle. A piece of pipe 1-1.5 meters long will do. Now you need to unlock the nuts on the hubs and unscrew them with this wrench. After that, remove the pins from the ends of the steering rods, unscrew the nuts. Using a puller, remove the tips from the holes in the steering knuckles of the struts. Remove the bolts that secure the ball joints to the hub. You can now pull the hub towards you to remove the drive from it. Half of the work is done, it remains only to dismantle the drives from the gearbox.

Step 3

Remove the inner CV joints from the transmission. This can be done either with a crowbar or with a chisel and hammer. Install the chisel to the drive so that it does not slip, and then apply a few sharp blows with the hammer. Be careful, there may be some oil on the splines. Avoid contact with eyes. The second CV joint is removed in the same way. Now both drives are dismantled, you need to remove the grenades from the axle shafts and install new ones.

Step 4

Clamp the drive in a vice, so it will be more convenient to work with it. Using a chisel and a hammer, knock both SHRUS off the drive. Strike as hard as possible so that the grenade comes off the retaining ring. Now remove the rings from the drive and wash the splines with solvent. Install the clamp on the shaft first, followed by the rubber boot and retaining ring. Only then install a new CV joint on the drive. With sharp blows from a wooden or bronze hammer, drive the grenade so that it is fixed with a retaining ring on the shaft.

Step 5

Now squeeze out the grease that came with the grenade into the rubber boot. Put the boot on the grenade and clamp it tightly with the clamp. On the drive, you also need to crimp it with a clamp. Make sure that the clamp is directed in the direction of movement of the shaft, otherwise it may loosen and fly off while driving. The other three CV joints are changed in the same way. Installation on the vehicle is carried out in the reverse order.
