If you decide to assemble your iron horse yourself, get ready to sweat a lot. In addition to problems with documents that, one way or another, you have, be prepared for long weeks of hard work on the unit. If this does not scare you, you can proceed.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare for the build process. First of all, you must have a clear idea of what a motorcycle is. Look for similar literature or information on the net that would talk about how the bike works. If you have the opportunity, you can watch specialized programs on this topic, for example, on the Discovery Channel "American Chopper". In this program, you will see with your own eyes how to adjust the frame, calculate the correct fork size and much, much more.
Step 2
Go for the details you need. In any case, there are two main things to pay attention to - the frame and the engine. It is better not to buy these parts at flea markets and other similar places. It is best if the engine is new. In this case, you can more easily straighten documents, and your horse will ride faster.
Step 3
Buy all the rest of the change from hand. By visiting used stores or an online flea market. You can buy absolutely everything you need. If you are building a sports bike, try to get shock absorbers and a battery from Japanese models - Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki or Kawasaki. If your end result is closer to a classic bike or chopper, then inexpensive parts from Soviet motorcycles are quite suitable: sunrise, Izha and others.
Step 4
Do not try to rely on the dimensions of the frame. Any frame is created for a specific set of internal motorcycle components. In 90% of cases, you will not be able to fit everything under a ready-made frame from an old motorcycle. Therefore, be prepared that it will have to bend, break and remake.
Step 5
Start with the wheels and exhaust pipe. Theoretically, you can start with the motor, gradually layering new parts on it, but in this case you will have many problems with transporting the unit, which, believe me, will have to be done more than once. Therefore, start assembly with secondary parts.
Step 6
Draw a visual diagram to simplify your work. Draw a diagram of your motorcycle on paper, while assembling, move from one link to another until you reach the main one - the engine. If you find a problem, do the same, push from link to link, checking each section of your chain.
