The sound quality of the subwoofer is influenced not only by the acoustics itself, but also by the body of the device itself. In addition to the material, it is important that the box has the appropriate volume and is made of the right material. It is necessary to correctly calculate the architecture, since this is critical for a small car trunk volume.

It is necessary

  • - MDF leaves;
  • - liquid Nails;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - drill;
  • - jigsaw;
  • - carpet

Instructions

Step 1

Decide on the type of subwoofer enclosure. A closed box will be the perfect design for really high quality sound, but you have to take care of the increased power of the amplifier in order to "swing" the diffuser and the air cushion behind the speaker. The bass reflex box is well suited for club music or car audio competitions. This architecture is more than a typical closed box. The "Band Pass" is the largest allowable size and is needed where high pressure sound is needed, since the speaker is located on the inner wall of the box between two volumes. Has significant audio delays.

Step 2

For the manufacture of a box, MDF is best suited. Calculate the volume of the future box and the length of each phase inverter for each head. To do this, you can use the JBL Speakershop program.

Step 3

Also install the Volume Box Calculator calculate the external parameters of the box, taking into account the height and width of the trunk of the car.

Step 4

Mark the MDF according to the selected dimensions and start cutting. A circular saw will help with this, although you can use a jigsaw. Please note that the thickness of one plywood sheet must be at least 18 mm.

Step 5

Attach the front wall to the bottom of the future subwoofer box and screw it onto several self-tapping screws that are used to attach to drywall. Make the top cover in the same way.

Step 6

Subtract the thickness of the material from the bottom of the drawer and mark the strip on the bottom to which the material will need to be removed. Do the same operation on the upper part. You can mark the bevel with a pencil and a ruler. Take the planer and remove the marked excess, then screw the back wall.

Step 7

Remove the protruding parts with a plane again. Place the box sideways on a sheet of MDF and draw a sidewall for both sides (in case you have two subwoofers). Cut and insert these sides into the middle wall, forming two compartments. Attach them.

Step 8

Since the structure consists of two walls, then drill small holes for attaching the screws for the second layer. Assemble the structure in stages, starting from the front and bottom walls. Use liquid nails for a tight fit.

Step 9

Screw on the top of the future box, and then the back cover. Finish the edges. Make markings for the subwoofers and cut holes for the bass reflexes, which are located on the side of the box. You can check the correctness of the cut hole with the speaker itself.

Step 10

The phase inverters are made of a plastic pipe, from the inside you can paint it with black paint. Purchase or make rings for the device (plastic), attach them to the tube with liquid nails.

Step 11

Process the box to smooth out all the irregularities and protruding parts, begin to stretch. Go through the inside and outside with a vacuum cleaner, cut off the carpet with a margin so that it can be subsequently wrapped in the holes in the shape of a crown. To ensure complete tightness, carefully glue the phase inverters, do not be afraid to get dirty in liquid nails. Install the speakers in the same way.

Step 12

The body is ready. The amplifiers are attached to the back wall, the wires come out through special holes, which are then covered with liquid nails.
