Car alarms designed to guard the car can also cause headaches for its owner. Hardly anyone will like the endless false alarms of the system, accompanied by heart-rending siren screams. Although all these abnormal situations have their own technical reasons.
Weaken the blow
The reasons for false alarms of the system need to be dealt with in stages. Most often, an overly sensitive shock sensor is triggered. Ideally, it should only be triggered by hitting the body of the car. The sensor should not react to a shock wave from a strong sound (salute, shot) and noise from passing cars. In such cases, the dual-zone shock sensor only beeps several times.
To reduce the sensitivity of the shock sensor, find it in the passenger compartment - most often it is located between the front seats under the hand brake. The sensor has a special rotary knob. Scrolling it counterclockwise will decrease the sensitivity setting. But if this does not help, it is better to temporarily disable it (this function is present in all alarms) in order to figure out what else is the cause of false alarms of the system.
Little troubles
The second reason for the frequent false alarms is the inadequate operation of the limit switch, which closes the circuit when the doors are opened. In this case, on the LCD key fob display, you will see a symbol for opening a door, hood or trunk. This happens due to oxidation of the limit switch under the influence of moisture or too much wear. You can treat the end stop with an anti-corrosion liquid (WD-40, for example). But it is better to completely replace it. It happens that the wire just left the limit switch. In this case, it must be better secured.
In wet weather, during a period of very heavy rain, you may encounter a problem that the siren starts to "howl" or "quack" spontaneously. This means that moisture got under the hood, which disrupted the regular operation of the siren. Just try to turn off the siren for a while. If it is offline, disable it with a special key. If dependent, disconnect the two wires coming from it. Give it time to dry. In case of severe damage, it is better to replace the siren with a new one - it is quick and inexpensive.
Trust the professional
Another reason for the malfunction of the security system can be problems with open circuits. When the alarm is installed, locks are made for the starter, ignition or fuel pump. In this case, a special relay is used. It may happen that you cannot start the car, and at the same time there will be a constant operation of the system.
But before looking for problems in the alarm, exclude possible malfunctions in the electronic system of the car itself. Measure the voltage in the circuit, check the battery charge. To search for an open circuit, contact the service center where the alarm was installed. And better for the same master. But in general, it is advisable that after installing the system, the installer shows you where the lock relay, the Valet alarm emergency shutdown button and the shock sensor are located.
