It happens that the alarm not only guards the car, but also adds a headache to its owner. After all, there is nothing more unpleasant than the howl of a siren at five in the morning under the windows of a house. In order to prevent such situations, the security system must be periodically checked for operability and monitored for its elements.
Necessary
- - universal screwdriver;
- - User's Manual;
- - liquid for processing metal elements.
Instructions
Step 1
Adjust the shock sensor. The most common false alarm of security systems is an overly sensitive shock or volume sensor. Ideally, it should only be triggered by a strong impact on the car body and not react to passing cars. Find the location of the sensor to adjust the sensitivity. It is usually installed between the front seats under the armrest or plastic partition. There is a rotary mechanism in the center of the sensor, which must be rotated with a screwdriver. For more correct operation of the sensor, never mount it on a metal surface that reduces its communication with the security system unit.
Step 2
If, when triggered, the system indicates that the doors are open (for alarms with feedback), check the limit switches of the doors, trunk and hood. Over time, door closing switches oxidize under the influence of the environment. Accordingly, the adhesion to the door becomes worse, the wire leading to the alarm unit may go off. Lubricate the end switches of doors, trunk and hood with a special antioxidant liquid (WD-40). Replace completely rusty elements with new ones.
Step 3
If the siren starts screaming continuously, the car is not removed / armed, I will switch the system to Valet mode. Often the reason for this behavior of the system is the failure of the alarm unit. The reasons may be humidity, incorrect use of the system, current leakage, the influence of strong radio waves. To bring the system out of this state, locate the alarm off toggle switch. With this button you can switch the system to the central locking mode, i.e. the alarm will only open and close the door switches. Also, using the Valet button, you can reprogram the system and restart it.
