The increase in the carrying capacity of the Gazelle vehicle, among other things, will help to reduce the cost of its operation. After the manufacturer equipped it with a new engine of increased power and power steering, it became possible to increase the weight of the transported cargo without compromising maneuverability and speed qualities.

It is necessary

Sets of wrenches of different types and sizes, a channel of the selected length and size, a welding machine, an angle, fittings, skills and admission to work with welding, additional "root" spring sheets, jacks or other lifting devices, wheel chocks, safety "goats"

Instructions

Step 1

The work consists of two main stages: strengthening the supporting frame and loading platform, installing additional leaf springs. Start by reinforcing the frame with a channel of the appropriate size and length. Weld the channel into the inner part of the supporting frame or bolt through the holes in the frame. Instead of a channel, you can weld along the frame - from the outside or inside - a strip of sheet metal. Increase the lateral stiffness with corners or reinforcement by pulling opposite longitudinal sections of the frame. After that, you can proceed to the second stage.

Step 2

To install additional spring leaves, disconnect the propeller shaft from the drive axle gearbox by applying marks with a chisel to maintain alignment during the future assembly of the unit. Remove the spring ladders and raise the vehicle to a sufficient height for free work with the springs. After selecting and installing additional spring leaves, perform the operations of this step in the reverse order: fasten the axle to the frame with ladders, and then screw the propeller shaft to the gearbox, aligning the marks left during disassembly. Then do the operation of adding sheets and to strengthen the front springs.

Step 3

After completing the work, check and, if necessary, adjust the toe-in of the front wheels. In the subsequent operation of the upgraded Gazelle, pay attention to the increased wear of brake pads, wheels and hub bearings. Keep an eye on the components that have been changed - it is likely that it will be necessary to re-tighten the loosened connections from time to time.
