The throttle position sensor is used to open the throttle and transmit control information to the electronic engine control unit. The sensor is usually mounted opposite the throttle control lever. Periodically, the throttle sensor needs to be checked and adjusted accordingly.
It is necessary
- - multimeter;
- - voltmeter;
- - ohmmeter;
- - probe.
Instructions
Step 1
Check the throttle position sensor with the throttle itself closed. Follow the correct sequence of actions. Switch off the ignition. Set the throttle to the closed position (do not press the accelerator pedal).
Step 2
Disconnect the sensor connector. Check the conductivity between the two left terminals of the sensor. If there is no conductivity, the sensor needs to be set up and adjusted.
Step 3
Take a 0.4mm thick dipstick between the stop arm and the throttle stop screw. Using a multimeter (ohmmeter), make sure that the resistance between the above contacts becomes equal to infinity. Otherwise, it can be concluded that the sensor may be faulty. Before changing the throttle sensor, try adjusting and adjusting it.
Step 4
Adjust the sensor also with the throttle valve closed and the ignition off. Do not press the accelerator. Disconnect the TP sensor connector. Loosen the sensor mounting screws slightly without removing them completely.
Step 5
Rotate the sensor until between the extreme left terminals of the device corresponds to the table value indicated in the technical documentation. After adjusting the parameters to the proper form, tighten the sensor mounting screws, holding the device in such a way that when tightening the screws, it does not change its position.
Step 6
If you are not confident in your abilities or do not have the necessary qualifications, entrust the adjustment of the throttle position sensor to a specialist service workshop. Installation and adjustment of the sensor is carried out initially at the factory, so in the most ideal case, the sensor should only be reconfigured by qualified specialists, unless, of course, you expect to ensure a high quality of adjustment. Improper tuning will adversely affect engine performance.
