On July 1, 2012, amendments to the Road Traffic Regulations entered into force. They also touched those who like to ride in tinted cars. Now the opaque film on car windows is forcibly forced to remove. Otherwise, the driver runs the risk of losing his registration numbers. The first results of the fight against tinting were summed up two weeks after the start of the road reform.

During the first half month after the amendments to the Traffic Rules came into force in July 2012, traffic police stopped more than 4,000 cars on the roads, the windows of which were covered with a tint film. In most cases, penalties were applied to them directly on the spot. The drivers filmed the tape and received a protocol to pay a fine in the amount of 500 rubles.

In more difficult cases, when the toning was too dense and practically nothing was visible through it, registration numbers were twisted from the cars until the violation was completely eliminated. True, there were about 400 motorists who are too fond of dark glasses.

It should be borne in mind that if the owner of a car toned over the measure decides to remove the tinting right next to the traffic police officer, the license plate will not be taken away from him. But he will have to remove the tint film on his own, for which penknives, coins, etc. are used. All of these items scratch glass very hard. However, if he wants to do this in a car service, he is given exactly one day to eliminate the violation and get his numbers back.

By law, it is allowed to apply tint films with a light transmittance of at least 70%. It should be remembered that this rule only applies to windshield and front side windows. As for the rear side and rear windows, they can be tinted and darker.

According to the results of the ongoing struggle against glass tinting, motorists have their own statistics. According to their observations, the number of petty thefts from cars increased by almost 1.5 times. Car owners associate this fact with the lack of tinting, because now it is easier for criminals to look at what lies in the car. And, naturally, they are more often tempted to pull something out of the car left in the parking lot.
