Tinting the rear windows is more time consuming than tinting the side windows. In the absence of this skill, it will be quite difficult to properly install the film, without bubbles and other defects. If you nevertheless decide to do the tint of the rear windows with your own hands, then perhaps some basic rules for tinting this type will be useful to you.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, take a close look at the rear window of your car. If any irregularities are found, it is still better to refuse to tint the rear window. At least until the existing irregularities are eliminated.
Step 2
If you did not find any irregularities, then before the tinting process you need to thoroughly clean the glass. To do this, spray a glass cleaner and then remove it along with the dirt with a rubber spatula, horizontally. This procedure must be repeated several times until the glass is completely clean.
Step 3
After completing the glass preparation process, you can start installing the film. In this case, it is very important to use only high-quality film. Therefore, it is not worth saving on the price of the film. Cheap, low quality film has a short life and you end up buying a new film and repeating the procedure. In general, in this case, the saying "stingy pays twice" is more than relevant.
Step 4
Now we start tinting the rear windows, starting from the top. First, spread the liquid liberally over the top of the glass. Then you need to separate the film from the protective layer by one third and spray abundantly on the surface of the adhesive film and glass. After that, peel off another third of the film, similarly spray the liquid on the surface and attach the film.
Step 5
Now we separate the remaining third of the film from the protective layer and, similarly to the previous two parts, attach it to the glass. While the film is still wet and complete fixation has not occurred, you have time to correct the position of the film. When the film is evenly flat, you can start ironing with a rubber spatula, starting from the bottom of the film and away from the center.
Step 6
During the ironing process, bubbles and folds are often formed on the film. However, it is important in this situation not to use rough mechanical actions, in order to avoid the risk of damage to the film. Better to wait about ten minutes and repeat the ironing with a spatula. In addition, heating the film with a hair dryer can help. If you have managed to cope with all the defects of the film, then you can consider yourself a pro. However, it must still be repeated that tinting the rear windows is a technically time-consuming task that requires certain skills and knowledge of the properties of the material. Therefore, in the process of tinting the rear window on our own, the probability of getting not the best result is still possible.
