The intake and exhaust valves of a car wear out and become loose over time. This leads to a violation of the standard required value of the valve clearance, which in turn causes engine breakdown, and the car simply does not start. A sign that the valves need to be adjusted is their constant knocking when the engine is running.
It is necessary
- - special probe (about 0.15 mm thick)
- - key for 10
- - key 12
- - key 13
- - key 17
Instructions
Step 1
First, you need to remove everything that will interfere with adjusting the valve clearance. That is, remove the carburetor air filter housing, the accelerator pedal drive rod and the ignition distributor cover. You can also unscrew the candles for convenience.
Step 2
Next, remove the cylinder head cover by unscrewing 8 nuts securing it to the engine body with a 10 key.
Step 3
Next, it is necessary to achieve alignment of the marks on the camshaft sprocket and on the bearing housing. To do this, you need to rotate the crankshaft until the marks match.
Step 4
Use a 17 wrench to loosen the adjusting bolt locknut.
Step 5
Then you need to insert the existing special dipstick between the lever and the camshaft cam.
Step 6
To adjust the correct clearance value, it is necessary that the dipstick enters the clearance with slight pinching when the locknut is turned on. To do this, unscrew or tighten the adjusting bolt with a key "13", while holding the lock nut.
