On the road, you should always follow certain traffic rules, created specifically in order to save the life of not only the pedestrian, but also the driver. Most motorists identify several main rules, one of which sounds like a "handicap on the right".

What is the interference on the right
What is the interference on the right

In the traffic rules there is no formulation of the concept of "interference from the right", this is a "popular" concept, however, very accurate. A vehicle that takes precedence on the road if it moves to the right is described in two sections - “Maneuvering” and “Passing through intersections”.

When to stick to the right hand side rule

In the everyday "simple" version, the rule of interference from the right sounds something like this: the way for vehicles must be given up in the case when they approach from the right side.

There is a widespread and generally understood principle of operation of this rule. So, the interference on the right is performed when there are no regulatory signs on the route, traffic lights are not installed or are inoperative. It is also worth remembering that this rule applies to intersections that are considered equivalent to each other, when changing lanes at a time or when maneuvering in the adjacent territory.

When it is necessary to give way according to the right handicap rule

Some cases can be considered in which there is clearly an advantage of the vehicle driving on the right.

1. When the motorist starts to turn left, and the second driver moves to the left or straight ahead, he should be passed.

2. When one driver drives straight and the other moves to the right or turns right. The first driver should, if possible, move at the same time as the second, or skip ahead.

3. When the first driver drives straight, and the second moves to the right, turns left, or drives straight, then he should be allowed to pass.

4. When the driver turns to the left and the second driver starts to move to the right. You should drive at the same time, because the cars will not cross.

5. When the driver turns to the right, there is no need to give way, since the trajectories of the vehicles do not intersect. It is not a hindrance to the right of a car entering the road, for example, from the local area on the right or from a country road to the main road also on the right.

It is curious that not only motorists have an obstacle on the right, but also, for example, tram drivers. The traffic rules say: “At the intersection of equivalent roads, the driver of a roadless vehicle is obliged to give way to vehicles approaching from the right. Tram drivers should be guided by the same rule. At such intersections, the tram has an advantage over trackless vehicles, regardless of the direction of its movement."

The examples considered are the cases that occur most often, there are a lot of exceptions that are told about in driving schools.
