An immobilizer is an anti-theft electronic device that immobilizes a vehicle by breaking the electrical circuits of the engine unit (immobilizer). It is installed in the most important places for the car, for example, on the electrical circuits of the starter, engine or ignition. Therefore, even if an intruder opened the car and got inside, it becomes impossible to steal it.

Instructions

Step 1

The immobilizer is successfully combined with a modern anti-theft car alarm and is installed both with additional wiring in the car's electrical system and built into its standard wiring. The place where the immobilizer is installed can be anywhere where the wires go. Unlocking the immobilizer should be available only to the car owner and is carried out using a coded contact key, a special tag card or a radio signal from the key fob.

Step 2

The standard immobilizer consists of a control unit, an electromagnetic relay that breaks the circuit, and a key that is recognized by the control unit. In case of unauthorized disconnection of the immobilizer or its destruction, the movement of the car remains blocked.

Step 3

It is possible to talk a lot and for a long time about the benefits of the immobilizer, but there are also cases when they break down, blocking the ability to start the car. In this case, it is better to contact a car service. If the immobilizer is blocked, you must disable it. The control unit for the standard immobilizer is usually located behind the center console at the level of the radio. Remove the connector from the immobilizer control unit. It can be found by hand and detached. The connector has 20 pins. Cut the 9th and 18th wires from the connector and connect them, insulate.

Step 4

Replace the electronic engine control unit (ECU). But the ECU is quite expensive, so you can reprogram it. This requires a soldering iron, a computer, a PAK-Loader programmer. Dismantle and disassemble the electronic engine control unit. Next, you need to reprogram the control unit. Connect the PAK bootloader to the controller and read its firmware FLASH (BIN extension) and EEPROM (EEP extension). Save the firmware to your computer. Fill the engine control unit with a clean EEPROM firmware. Disconnect the PAK bootloader and controller. Reinstall the controller.

Step 5

Reinstall the immobilizer connector. Start the engine.
