To find a flat tire in time, get into the habit of inspecting your tires every time you get into the car. Often this habit prevents trouble along the way. It is also helpful to have a compressor in the trunk and a first aid kit for repairing tires in case of a puncture.
Necessary
- - car compressor;
- - first aid kit for tire repair.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are not sure if the wheel is punctured, pump it up. At the same time, lift the car on a jack and carefully inspect the tire, rotating it with your hands. If no puncture is found and the tire maintains pressure, keep driving. Probably, a flat tire is the work of ill-wishers. Do not forget to tighten the valve properly while doing this.
Step 2
If you find a nail or a screw on the rubber that is stuck in the tread, have the tire repaired. You can do this yourself, or at a tire shop. A radial tubeless tire does not deflate right away and once inflated, it can hold its way to the nearest tire service center. Of course, driving with a punctured wheel will harm him, even if the path is very short.
Step 3
To repair a tire in the field, a special kit is required - a first aid kit for tires. The simplest set should consist of a spiral awl, a special needle with an eyelet, impregnated ropes and tubes of glue. Perform all wheel repair procedures carefully. Determine the angle of inclination of the hole by the location of the nail (screw). Take out the "culprit" of the puncture and carefully insert the spiral awl into this hole at the same angle of inclination. However, take your time and try to grope for the path of least resistance. Remove steel cords sticking out of the damaged area.
Step 4
Take a repair harness and apply a layer of glue to it. Before doing this, make sure that the glue has not expired. Using an introductory awl, push the harness into the puncture until the handle stops in the protector, removing the spiral awl. If the wheel has already flattened, pump it up to 0, 2-0, 3 at. As soon as the awl enters the rubber all the way, turn the device 90 degrees and pull it out sharply so that the tourniquet remains in the hole. The harness itself should form a loop inside. Therefore, do not make a patch from half a bundle, even with a strong desire to save money. Cut off its protruding part, leaving a tail of 2-3 mm.
Step 5
To repair the puncture located on the sidewall of the tire, contact the tire company. If the diameter of the damage exceeds 6 mm, repair is not possible in most cases. The fact is that there are highly loaded elements in the sidewalls of the tires and a qualified repair of such a puncture is possible only from a specialist, and even then not always.
Step 6
Purchase a special spray from a car dealer or gas station that will tighten small punctures in the wheel. This is a reliable tool that is standardly equipped with Smart cars that do not have a spare wheel. Pour this spray into the tire under the pressure of the cylinder, inflating the wheel. After that, the product will spread over the inner surface of the wheel and, when punctured, will fill the hole, saving the owner from the need for repairs. Even when using such a compound, remove objects from the tire that pierced it. In addition, when repairing such a tire in a workshop, the composition will have to be scraped off. And the better the composition used, the more expensive it will be charged for its removal.
