The question of buying new tires for a car sometimes baffles novice motorists. There are many criteria for choosing tires for a car: winter or summer tires, tread pattern, manufacturer, and most importantly, the size of tires that is required for your particular car.
It is necessary
- - technical documentation of the car;
- - "tire" calculator.
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the vehicle's documentation. Find the manufacturer's recommendations for the type and size of tires that can be used on your vehicle. In general, the parameters of the tire will be indicated, for example, in the following form: 175/70 R13, where 175 is the width of the tire profile, mm, and 70 is the height of the tire profile in relation to the width,%; R13 is the radius of the tire in inches. If the profile height is not indicated, then it is assumed to be 82%. The radius of the tire determines the diameter of the wheel that the tire can be mounted on.
Step 2
If for some reason you do not have documentation for the car, look for information on the car itself. Typically, a decal with basic vehicle information is located on the driver's door. The nameplate usually indicates the tire size and allowable pressure.
Step 3
Find the size information for one of your car's tires on the sidewall.
Step 4
If the information from the nameplate has been erased and it is not possible to find this information in one of the listed ways, use the "tire calculator" on one of the automobile sites. Select the make, model, year of manufacture and modification of the car and find out the tire dimensions for the entered parameters.
