On domestic cars, a standard protection system is installed, such as an immobilizer. Its essence lies in blocking the ignition system when starting the engine without a key. A common problem is a failure in the system and incorrect operation of the immobilizer, which leads to the inability to start the engine.
Necessary
- notebook;
- pack-loader programmer;
- curly screwdriver;
- wrench 10;
- insulating tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect and remove the engine control unit, the so-called "brains". In different car models, the unit is located in different places, but usually at the bottom of the console. Using a curly screwdriver, unscrew the side console covers from both the driver and passenger sides. The controller is mounted on three screws, unscrew them. Disconnect the terminals and take out the control box. Disassemble the control box by unscrewing the four screws at the edges. Depending on the controller model, there may be a rivet on the back cover, if there is one you need to drill it out.
Step 2
You will need to modify the control unit. It consists in soldering the resistor chip. Connect the unit to your computer using a pack loader and read the flash and eeprom firmware. Save the firmware in any directory convenient for you. Fill the eeprom firmware back into the engine control unit. Detach the unit from the pack loader. Solder the chip resistor in place.
Step 3
Disable the immobilizer unit so that your control unit does not lock up during installation. The immobilizer console is located in the panel at the level of the radio. Feeling the block with your hand, disconnect the 20-pin connector. Cut the 9th and 18th wires from the connector and connect them. Use electrical tape to insulate the connected wires. This operation is for further correct operation of the diagnostic system. Reconnect all connectors to the ECM and reinstall. Screw on the walls of the center console. Start the engine.
