There can be many reasons why the nine engine does not start. The most commonplace is the blocking of the engine by the security system. More complex ones are a broken timing belt or a starter breakdown.

Not very pleasant sensations arise when the car engine does not start. Especially at the moment when you are in a hurry somewhere, and the motor refuses to work. And the reasons why this happens can be different, from banal to more serious. In order not to get into an awkward situation, it is very important to know what malfunctions can be the reason that the engine on the VAZ 2109 will not start. After all, it often happens that the engine does not start for a reason that lies on the very surface. And finding it is much more difficult than a serious breakdown.

The simplest malfunctions and methods of their elimination

First of all, of course, it is worth talking about the security system. The fact is that when arming, the engine is blocked. And until the alarm is turned off, the engine cannot be started. It is possible that the starter will spin, but the spark will not be supplied to the spark plugs. Pay attention immediately to the LED indicator that indicates the operation of the alarm.

It is not uncommon for motorists to install secret buttons themselves. When buying a car, be sure to ask the owner if the car has one. Because when cleaning the cabin or repairing it, you can accidentally hook it. This anti-theft system is very simple. One terminal of the switch is connected to ground, and the other to the signal wire of the Hall sensor. The symptoms are the same as when the alarm is on. The motor is spinning, but there is no spark. The way out of the situation is to disconnect the wire going to the tachometer in the block above the vacuum brake booster.

Another commonplace malfunction is the breakdown of the Hall sensor itself. The symptoms are the same as in the two previous cases. True, sometimes, with a partial failure, a spark can sometimes slip and the engine will make several "sneezes". Only replacing the sensor will help. To do this, it is necessary to disassemble the ignition distributor. Often there is simply a wire break. Therefore, in the event of a breakdown on the road, the best way out is to insulate the wire and drive to the place of repair.

Serious damage

And here it is worth starting with a break in the timing belt. The motor turns, but very easily, since the valves are all open. Check the belt immediately to see if it is in place. And sometimes it happens that its front part is intact, but the back one, which runs along the roller and pump, is torn. Remove protection and check integrity. Of course, one cannot do without replacing the belt, so there should always be one in stock, at least a little "alive".

If the engine does not start, and the starter spins quickly without catching the flywheel crown, then we can conclude that the teeth are worn out. Try using third speed to push the car forward 30 centimeters. The crankshaft will turn a little and there will be a whole section of the crown opposite the starter. If its wear is too great, then you will have to start it only from a tug.

Starter failure and negative wire oxidation can also prevent the engine from starting. In the case of the starter, there are two of the most popular breakdowns - the bendix, or more precisely, the freewheel, and the brushes. It is very easy to check the overrunning clutch, you just need to turn the gear in both directions. In one, it should rotate freely, but in the other, it should not rotate.
