A well-charged battery will be able to provide energy to the starter to successfully start the engine in any weather. The degree of load on the driver in the autumn-winter period depends on it. More precisely, from the ability of the battery to maintain its capacity.

In connection with the foregoing, neither more nor less depends on the operation of the battery in the summer season. The car alternator is designed so that the energy it generates only recharges the battery at 70-80 percent density. And in order to restore the lost capacity after each start of the engine with a starter, the power plant needs to operate at medium speed continuously for at least two hours. You yourself understand that in the conditions of transport movement within the city, compliance with such a regime is simply impossible.

The conclusion suggests itself: on the eve of winter, the battery needs to be energized. But, oddly enough, to restore the density of the electrolyte with a simultaneous increase in its capacity, the power unit must first be discharged.

To achieve the set task, the battery is removed from the car, and a load in the form of an electric motor or a light bulb with a power of up to 40 watts is connected to its terminals. During this process, it is required to periodically monitor the voltage at the battery terminals (connect a voltmeter to it). The lowest allowable discharge level is 11.7 volts. In cases of overcoming it, an irreversible process occurs in the battery, and it can be scrapped.
