In order to start the engine from someone else's battery, you need another car with a charged battery. You need wires of sufficient length and cross-section, and you also need to know how to properly light a cigarette from another car.
Necessary
- - special wires for lighting ("crocodiles")
- - spanners
Instructions
Step 1
Finding a "donor" is not a problem in a settlement. Drivers are an understanding people, because everyone can find themselves in a similar situation. It's another matter when trouble caught on a deserted country road or in the forest, where, for example, you went to pick mushrooms. In this case, call the rescuer by cellular communication.
Step 2
Before calling for help, visually assess nearby or passing vehicles. It is important that the volume of the engine on the "donor" car is approximately commensurate with yours. This is so that the capacity of its battery is sufficient and at the same time not excessive.
Step 3
Ask the driver who agreed to help you put his car as close as possible - side to side or bow to bow, so that the length of the cigarette lighter wires is sufficient. In this case, the bodies of the cars should not touch in any case. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal on your battery.
Step 4
Ask the donor not to turn off the engine of his car and open the hood. Connect the positive terminals of both batteries with the red wire. Clip the black, negative, wires to the "-" terminal of the working battery. The other "crocodile" of this wire is firmly clamped on the engine part or on an unpainted part of the body of your car.
Step 5
Turn on the ignition and start the engine by turning the key. Let it run for 2-3 minutes to enter the mode. Without stopping the engine, carefully disconnect the wires to avoid a short circuit. Better to do it together: first together "minus", then "plus".
Step 6
Remember to replace and securely tighten the negative lead on your battery. With sufficient engine speed, your battery will resume charging from the alternator.
