In most cases, the cause of malfunctioning of the power window motor is the ingress of moisture and, as a result, the appearance of rust. Before replacing a failed window regulator gearbox, you can try to fix the problem yourself. You can consider the algorithm of actions for repairing a window regulator by taking a specific car as a sample, for example, a VAZ 2112.

Necessary

  • - key for 5, 5;
  • - pliers;
  • - crosshead screwdriver;
  • - vice;
  • - a hammer;
  • - sandpaper.

Instructions

Step 1

Unscrew the 4 screws securing the window regulator motor cover. Remove the cover.

Step 2

Remove the driven gear of the window regulator gear. Remove the two screws holding the gear housing to the motor.

Step 3

Mark on the block where each motor wire will be installed and remove the wires from the block. Push the wires together with the grommet into the motor housing.

Step 4

Disconnect the gearbox housing from the motor.

Step 5

Gently clamp the armature shaft of the electric motor in a vise and knock out the armature with a hammer. Hammer blows to the motor housing should be applied through a soft metal gasket.

Step 6

Pull out the plastic stop located in the hole at the end of the shaft using a sharp object.

Step 7

Spray the rear bushing with a special liquid, find a secure stop. By hammering the end of the shaft through a punch, disconnect the rear bushing from the shaft.

Step 8

Gently remove rust from the armature shaft and the inside of the motor housing with sandpaper. Flush all parts thoroughly with gasoline.

Step 9

Place the rear bushing into the motor housing. Press it into the seat with a hammer. Hammer blows should be applied through the gasket.

Step 10

Sink the brushes of the electric motor in the brush holder and secure them with wires.

Step 11

Install the armature into the gear housing. Unwind the wires by freeing the motor brushes and check that they are in contact with the commutator.

Step 12

Return the plastic stop to its place in the end of the shaft. Apply special grease to the end of the shaft.

Step 13

Slide the gasket so that there is a distance of 5 cm from it to the terminals.

Step 14

Install the wires and gasket into the motor housing.

Step 15

Install the driven gear into the power window gear housing. Close the gearbox with the cover. Secure the cover with four screws.

Step 16

Connect the gearbox shaft to the motor housing. Secure the motor with two screws.

Step 17

Check the operation of the power window motor. Install the block.
