The dignity of the central lock is known to any motorist. But not all cars are sold with a central locking system already installed, some have to be mounted on their own. This is especially true for domestically produced cars.
Central locking is convenient in that there is no need to close every door. It is enough to turn the key in the driver's door lock cylinder to close all the locks. But not all cars come with a central locking system, some have to be bought separately and installed on their own. The central locking consists of four electric motors with gears that set in motion the traction that is responsible for closing the door locks. The electric motor has a worm gear that drives a rod connected to a rod.
Device complete set
The most important thing is the electric motors. There are four of them in the kit, they all have two outputs (plus and minus power supply), and one motor has four outputs. A limit switch is still installed on it. This engine is installed in the driver's door. The limit switch is triggered when the key is used to open or close the door. When the key is turned in the lock, the rod moves to the extreme position, the switch contacts are closed, voltage is applied to the other three motors, which open or close the doors.
A central unit is responsible for controlling the entire system, consisting of two relays and semiconductor diodes. It also contains capacitors to filter the voltage. The kit also includes rods, screws, strips, wires and a fuse. Brackets are required to secure the motor in a comfortable position.
Installing the central lock
The first step is to remove the door trim. It is desirable from all four at once, so it will be more convenient to carry out the work. You also need to remove the plastic decorative panels from the thresholds. The pillars between the front and rear doors also have plastic panels that will need to be removed. Under these panels, you will lay electrical wiring.
Immediately think about how you will pull the wires to the right rear door. You can lift the carpet and lay the wires along the underside of the car. But a more acceptable option would be a gasket under the dashboard. Moreover, under it you need to lay the wiring on the door on the right side of the car.
If there are holes in the doors for mounting motors, then the work is facilitated. You will need to fix the motors with self-tapping screws, just first install the spokes in the gearbox rods. But you will have to bend these spokes to ensure easy movement of the traction. The wires from the motors must be routed through the openings in the doors and body. And these wires are fed to the central control unit.
The unit is installed at the driver's door, it is best to hide it under the panel. Ground and plus are connected, the latter through a 16 Ampere fuse. Now is the time to test the design on the car. And if an alarm is installed, then you need to connect it to the central locking unit. The alarm has two outputs for this purpose. Just remember to program the arming and disarming functions correctly.
