Instructions

Step 1

Russian legislation obliges to register all shipping facilities without exception with a carrying capacity of more than 225 kg. As for motor boats, they are all subject to registration, regardless of weight.

Step 2

The registration process looks straightforward, especially when buying a boat from a store. The buyer is given a sales contract, a sales receipt and an operating manual. Together with the specified documents and a passport, the new owner of the boat presents the boat for inspection at the State Inspection Service, having previously paid the state duty. If it is impossible to present the boat for inspection, you can call the inspector.

Step 3

At current rates, it will cost 500 rubles per hour. In some cases, the inspection is completely optional and you only need to present documents. At the end of the inspection, an appropriate act is drawn up, and the owner of the boat writes an application for registration on a special form. Copies of documents for the purchase of the boat are attached to the application.

Step 4

The registration of the boat is carried out within 30 days from the date of its purchase in the store, and the re-registration is carried out within two weeks. Upon completion of registration, the craft is assigned a tail number, and its owner receives a ship ticket.

Step 5

After that, the owner of the boat is obliged to comply with the norms and technical requirements for the number of passengers carried, carrying capacity, maximum power and number of engines, navigation area, draft, equipping with fire-fighting and rescue equipment, navigation equipment, etc.

Step 6

However, you should be aware that the registration of a vessel does not yet entitle its owner to operate it. To obtain a certificate for the right to operate a small boat, you must complete the relevant courses and pass exams. The term of study for such courses is one month.
