Driving is especially difficult in winter. Even studded tires do not always save you from ice and even more from snowdrifts. The car sometimes starts to behave unpredictably, and the driver loses control and gets into an accident. To minimize the risk, follow the rules of conduct on winter roads.

Step 1
Observe the speed limit and do not recklessly. Remember that in winter the asphalt is often covered with a crust of ice, so the braking distance of the car increases. Be especially careful when cornering: if the car skids at high speed, disastrous consequences can hardly be avoided. It happens that the driver twists the steering wheel, and the car continues to slide straight. You must be sure that you can stop in time.
Step 2
Be very careful on the slides! Keep your distance, especially if you are caught in a traffic jam. Do not forget that the car slowly but surely rolls down, and if you get too close, a collision may occur. In addition, when the car starts to move, in most cases it first drives down at least a couple of centimeters and only then starts moving up the hill.
Step 3
Drive slowly when approaching pedestrian crossings. Unfortunately, some people are sure that the car must let them pass on the road, and they have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to instantly stop several tons of metal. There are pedestrians who jump out right under the wheels, forgetting that the road can be very slippery. By the way, even if it seems to you that a person will have time to cross to the other side of the road before you reach the crossing, slow down anyway. There is no guarantee that a pedestrian will not slip.
Step 4
All of your maneuvers should be fluid. Do not cut, do not disturb other road users. Turn on the turn signals at least a couple of seconds before changing lanes and make sure they let you through. Try to keep a great distance: if something happens on the road and the car in front of you stops abruptly, you must be able to brake smoothly so that the driver who is driving behind you has time to react. This is especially important for owners of studded tires: the braking distance of the car behind you can always be much longer than yours.
