Quite often, car owners are faced with a problem, which consists in a break in the timing belt. It is also necessary to change this belt if the resource is depleted. On a VAZ 21093 car, its resource is 100 thousand kilometers.
Instructions
Step 1
To install a new belt, start by removing the old one. First, remove the plastic protector that is attached to the engine and protects the timing belt. Fastening is done with two bolts. After that, engage in setting the crankshaft to the top dead center (TDC) position for the first cylinder. Align the marks on the pulley and on the engine block. There is also a pointer on the pulley.
Step 2
Be sure to hang one of the driving wheels. Then put in the highest gear. Now you can achieve the coincidence of the marks on the camshaft sprocket and the cylinder head. If you did not succeed in doing this the first time, then crank the crankshaft one more full turn.
Step 3
Before removing the belt from the car, check and also mark the direction of its movement. Next, engage in loosening and removing it from the pulleys. If you need to turn the camshaft with the timing belt removed, then pay attention that the piston is not at top dead center.
Step 4
Check again if the marks on the pulley and on the camshaft are correctly aligned. Perform an ignition check. The mark, which is located on the distributor rotor, should be opposite the mark on the body. After everything is set, start installing the belt. To do this, simply slide the belt over the pulleys. Don't forget to pull it on. Then crank the engine two turns by hand. Check the location of the labels. If they have not strayed from their places, then carry out the rest of the assembly. It remains only to try to start the engine.
Step 5
Please note that if all the marks are not properly set, then a breakdown of the camshaft, valves or cylinders in the engine may occur. The renovation will cost a lot of money.
