Step 1
Buying a car must be approached with the same responsibility and attention as when buying real estate. When buying a car in a car dealership, there are no problems, all documents will be prepared by the salon employees. But when purchasing a used car, you need to be extremely careful. If, when preparing for a car purchase transaction, you still have doubts about the reliability of the information or documents, it is better to involve a lawyer in the purchase or even refuse the car you like. It is important to remember that purchasing a car under a power of attorney, even notarized, is not correct and not safe, a power of attorney issued for three years can be revoked after a month or a year, this is at the discretion of the person who issued the power of attorney.
Step 2
A car purchase transaction must begin with the signing of a vehicle sale and purchase agreement. The contract can be drawn up in a simple written form or notarized. To complete the contract, you will need: the passport of the seller and the buyer, technical passport for the car (PTS), a certificate of registration of the car. The contract is drawn up in triplicate, one for the seller and two copies are handed over to the buyer. The advantage of a sales contract is that the car becomes the property of the buyer at the time of signing the contract and transferring funds.
Step 3
It is necessary to remember that the documents confirming the ownership of the car are the sales and purchase agreement and the certificate of account, and the vehicle passport and the registration certificate are registration documents. Registration actions for registering a car are carried out by the Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department (MREO) of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. When buying a used car, it makes sense to insist that the seller independently remove the vehicle from the register, since if problems arise with the car, then the new owner will have to deal with it.

If the car is removed from registration and put on temporary registration, then the buyer, within the time period specified by law, must carry out registration actions to register the car. Violation of the registration deadlines may result in a fine. To register a car in MREO, the following documents are required: buyer's passport, vehicle technical passport, car registration certificate, vehicle registration application, license plates, insurance policy, car sale and purchase agreement.
