Buying a car involves a lot of paperwork and it doesn't matter at all whether your car is new or used. In any case, as a buyer, you will be forced to understand some of the nuances that are associated with a car sale and purchase agreement.
Legal support for buying a car
Anyone who wants to buy a car first needs to understand the rules for registering ownership of a car. Competent legal support of the transaction is the most important moment when purchasing a vehicle. If the purchase of a car takes place in a car dealership, then many difficulties can be avoided, since the sales consultants of the car dealership will deal with the preparation of the accompanying documentation.
How to register a car in ownership?
There are two ways to register a vehicle in ownership:
- the purchase and sale agreement is concluded in the presence of a notary;
- the sales contract is concluded between the seller and the buyer independently.
In the first case, the two parties draw up a sales contract in the presence of a third party, namely a notary. After the conclusion of the transaction, the first party takes over the ownership of the car, the buyer is only required to re-register the car for himself in the traffic police.
It should be noted that the cost of notary services is not fixed. It depends on the individual characteristics of the specialist and the place of execution of the car purchase agreement. The average price for notary services is 1000 rubles.
The transaction between the seller and the buyer can be executed by a third party who has a special permit. The intermediary company will prepare a sales contract for the car in triplicate. Two originals are given to the buyer and the seller, and the third copy remains at the traffic police.
It should also be noted that late registration of the car threatens the owner with large fines. Within ten days after the execution of the sales contract, the car must be registered with the registration authorities.
Documentation required to register a car with the traffic police
When registering a car, traffic police officers will require the following documents from you:
- sales contract or other document confirming the ownership of the car;
- application for registration of the car;
- owner's passport;
- vehicle passport;
- a receipt for payment of the state duty;
- OSAGO insurance.
When registering not by the owner of the vehicle, but by an authorized person, a power of attorney will be required, which clearly describes the rights of the representative.
License plates can be left from the old owner, if desired, you can get new ones. Upon receipt of a new registration number, the old signs will be taken away by the traffic police, and the new owner will have to pay in addition to all costs the state duty for new numbers (it is around 3000 rubles).
Ideally, the procedure for registering a car in ownership takes an hour and a half. All personal documents must be in good condition. After registration, you must carefully check all documents for the correctness of filling in the data.
